DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has revealed a brand new opening theme song, “Oh Lord” by Foxy Shazam, for the upcoming second season of Peacemaker during San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).

The announcement came during HBO Max’s ‘Peacefest,’ an ’80s glam rock-inspired activation that brought fans into the chaotic and hilarious world of Peacemaker. The event featured live music, games, exclusive merch, and a first look at the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, an extradimensional storage room featured in the series.

As part of the surprise, Gunn introduced the crowd to the glam rock band Foxy Shazam, who delivered a live performance of their song. They are a Cincinnati-based glam rock band that formed in 2004, which went on hiatus in 2014 and returned in 2020.

Known for his bold and interesting musical choices, Gunn once again leaned into his signature antics, outdoing himself in picking a song that can top the show’s first-season opener, “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” by Wig Wam. That track became notable for its usage during the quirky and unforgettable dance number performed by the cast in the opening credits.

The returning cast for the second season includes John Cena as Chris Smith / Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Robert Patrick as August “Auggie” Smith / White Dragon.

Additionally, new cast members include Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, and Michael Rooker as Red St. Wild.

Peacemaker’s first season premiered in January 2022 and served as a spin-off and follow-up to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film The Suicide Squad. The second season, on the other hand, acts as a soft reboot of the DCEU, taking place after the events of Superman, which is part of the rebooted DC Universe (DCU).
