Rihanna returns to the big screen as Smurfette in the upcoming 2025 Smurfs animated reboot.

On her official X account, Rihanna gave us a first look at the upcoming Smurfs reboot from Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies. The short 17-second teaser opens with the Smurfs village as the camera dollies in on a small TV, where Smurfette blows a kiss while announcing a trailer drop for tomorrow’s release, with the Smurfs theme echoing in the background.

Joining RiRi is a star-studded cast that includes: Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Natasha Lyonne (But I’m a Cheerleader, Russian Doll), J. P. Karliak (X-Men ’97), Dan Levy (The Goldbergs), Amy Sedaris (The Mandalorian), Nick Kroll (Big Mouth), James Corden (Cats), Octavia Spencer (The Help), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), Alex Winter (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure), Billie Lourd (Scream Queens), Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai, Blue Beetle), Kurt Russell (The Thing), and John Goodman (The Big Lebowski).

The Barbadian singer and businesswoman is not the only pop star lending her voice as Smurfette. Katy Perry had previously voiced the character in the two live-action The Smurfs films produced by Sony Pictures Animation, while Demi Lovato voiced the role in the 2017 animated film, Smurfs: The Lost Village.

The film marks Rihanna’s return to the big screen after Ocean’s 8 and her latest film role since Guava Island, the 2019 musical thriller directed by Hiro Murai and written by Donald Glover.

Smurfs is currently slated for a theatrical release on July 18, 2025, in the United States. As we wait for an official Philippine release date, check out the teaser below:
