Film Concerts PH is bringing Vikings and dragons to Manila with How to Train Your Dragon In Concert, soaring into The Theatre at Solaire this holiday season on December 13 and 14, 2025.
Marking the 15th anniversary of the beloved DreamWorks animated film, the project will be shown on the big screen with the Academy Award–nominated score by John Powell performed live by the 83-member Filharmonika Orchestra, led by one of Thailand’s leading young conductors, Thanapol Setabrahmana of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.
In addition to the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy and its 2025 remake, Powell has scored several animated films, including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Happy Feet, and the Ice Age series, as well as the two-part live-action Wicked adaptations.
The film follows Hiccup, a Norse teenager from the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. Known as a misfit for his humor and unique views, he is the son of the Viking leader and is expected to kill a dragon to prove himself — but instead, he befriends a ferocious dragon named Toothless. Together, this unlikely pair faces the odds to save both their worlds.
With a full symphony orchestra, audiences will experience and rediscover the magic of the modern animated classic through a fresh and exciting concert performance.
