Eraserheads: Combo On The Run won the Best International Feature Documentary Award at the 12th Ierapetra International Documentary and Film Festival in Crete, Greece.
During the festival’s awarding ceremony, director and producer Maria Diane Ventura personally accepted the award. “I always feel honored, humbled, and grateful to represent our country in any capacity,” Ventura shared.
Ventura expressed her gratitude for the documentary’s reception and how it has resonated overseas, especially with the growing demand outside the Philippines. “We set out to tell a story close to our hearts, and somehow it found its way across oceans,” she said. “It’s a privilege to carry our country’s voice and music from the Eraserheads, no less.”
Aside from winning one of the festival’s top honors, the documentary was also chosen to be the closing film of the Greek festival. Prior to its premiere in Europe, the documentary headlined San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2025 last July, becoming the first Filipino-produced film and the first music documentary to screen at one of the world’s biggest fan conventions.
Combo On The Run had a Philippine theatrical release last March and received widespread acclaim from critics, audiences, and fans alike. After its win in Greece, talks for a theatrical release this year in cities around the world are already underway.
Since 2014, the International Documentary Festival of Ierapetra & Awards continues to bring filmmakers from around the world to share their work and experience Greek hospitality through Ierapetra, an island of Crete, Greece and the southernmost city in Europe.
