Eraserheads: Combo On The Run, the documentary exploring the journey of the legendary Filipino rock band, is extending its run in cinemas for another week.
Directed by filmmaker Maria Diane Ventura, the documentary was met with overwhelming public demand and fan support after a strong theatrical release this past weekend. She expressed her gratitude to Eraserheads fans for their support, saying, “I’m filled with so much gratitude. I hope more people get to see the film. I hope it does for them what it did for me. This is not just a music story; it’s our story. This is for all of us.”
The documentary chronicles the origin story of the iconic band, from rebellious rockstar punks brimming with youthful angst and energy, to going their separate ways and eventually reuniting when the country needed comfort — only to realize they were on a journey of healing themselves.
It also features never-before-seen interviews, archival footage, and first-hand perspectives from Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro.
Adding to the excitement, the band surprised attendees with a special performance after the sold-out screening at Gateway Cineplex in Quezon City. They played hits including “Superproxy,” “Combo on the Run,” “Alapaap,” “Spoliarium,” “Pare Ko,” and “Magasin.”
The announcement followed the news of the much-anticipated ‘Electric Fun Music Festival,’ happening on May 31 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Pasay City.
But wait, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Buendia also declared the band is back for good, saying, “By this time I think, tama na ‘yung reunion-reunion na ‘yan, wala nang huling ‘Huling El Bimbo’ (no more talks of reunions or a final ‘Huling El Bimbo’); we’re here to stay. Until we decide to break up again, that is.”
