Sunghoon of ENHYPEN has been officially selected as a torchbearer leading up to the opening ceremony of the 2026 Milano‑Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy on February 6, 2026.
Sunghoon was recommended as a torchbearer by Samsung Electronics, an official sponsor of the Winter Olympics. The role also aligns with his position as an ambassador for the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee. This position, which he has held since 2025, advocates for sports participation and celebrates athletic dedication.
Sunghoon becomes the second K-pop artist to take part in the iconic Olympic torch relay, joining Jin of BTS, who participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the lead-up to the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, K-pop artists such as Sandara Park, Suzy, Mamamoo, Monsta X, and Donghae and Yesung of Super Junior also carried the Olympic flame.
The world of competitive sports isn’t entirely new to Sunghoon. Before joining and debuting with ENHYPEN in 2020, he trained and competed as a figure skater and was part of South Korea’s national reserve team.
In a press release by The Korea Times, the K-pop star shared his excitement and admiration for the athletes competing in the iconic global sporting event, saying, “As I am fully aware of the passion and effort by the national representatives who have shed sweat for the Winter Olympics, I have great respect and support for them.”
The Winter Games take place from February 6 to 22, 2026, in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
