David Byrne and Hayley Williams team up to write original songs for the upcoming Netflix animated film, The Twits, which launches globally on Netflix on October 17.
The film marks the first adaptation of Roald Dahl’s 1980 children’s book of the same name. It will feature three original songs: “We’re Not Like Ev’ryone Else,” “Lullaby,” and “The Problem Is You,” which are written and produced by Byrne. Williams co-wrote and performs the end title track, “Open the Door,” alongside the former Talking Heads frontman.
Directed by Phil Johnston (Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph), the film follows Mr. and Mrs. Twit, the meanest, smelliest, and nastiest people alive. They own and operate Twitlandia, which is the most disgusting and dangerous amusement park in the world. As the Twits rise to power, two brave children named Beesha and Bubsy team up with a family of magical Muggle-Wumps to try and save the city.
The voice cast includes Margo Martindale as Mrs. Twit, Johnny Vegas as Mr. Twit, Natalie Portman as Mary Muggle-Wump, Emilia Clarke as Pippa, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Beesha, and Ryan Lopez as Bubsy.
Byrne recently announced Who Is The Sky?, his first album in seven years, set for release on September 5. Williams, on the other hand, dropped a surprise collection of 17 singles on her website. She later removed the singles, then re-released them on streaming platforms.
