Filipino audiences are being invited to a world of pure imagination as Broadway’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory – The Musical makes its Manila debut at the Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City from July 8 to 26, 2026.
Based on the beloved 1964 children’s novel of the same name by Roald Dahl, the production features music by Marc Shaiman, with lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, and a book by David Greig. The musical includes timeless songs from the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, including “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man,” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” as well as original music by Grammy and Tony Award-winning composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
The Manila staging comes after a successful, sold-out run at Shanghai Culture Square in November 2025. Filipino theater and musical enthusiasts can enjoy early ticket access through UnionBank from January 12 to 15, 2026, via Ticketworld.
GMG Productions will offer a special waitlist for early seating access before the public ticket sales. Access the early waitlist here until January 14 at 11:59 PM (PH Time). General ticket selling will go live at TicketWorld on January 17, 2026.
Fans can also expect to be transported into the world of the story, with a production featuring special effects and Hologauze 3D technology. “We are so excited to share the breathtaking world of this beloved Broadway musical about the power of imagination and the art of invention with Beijing audiences in this spectacular new immersive production from an all-Broadway creative team,” Simone Genatt and Marc Routh, Producers and Co-Owners of Broadway International Group and Broadway Asia, said in an official statement.
The Broadway production of the musical premiered in 2017 and featured over 300 performances, followed by a four-year North American tour through 2022. The musical also had a run on London’s West End, where it received two Olivier Awards. The global tour is scheduled to run across Asia for two to three years and will include stops in the Middle East, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Hainan, Taipei, and Seoul.
Charlie And The Chocolate Factory follows young Charlie Bucket on an adventure after he receives a golden ticket to enter the magical world of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, complete with out-of-this-world chocolate rivers, Oompa Loompas, colorful visuals, and dazzling musical numbers.
The novel has also been adapted in 2003 with the Tim Burton-directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In 2023, a prequel story explored Willy Wonka’s origins with the musical fantasy film Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet.
