The One and Marvel fans are in for a treat. “from me to u” by BABYMETAL featuring Poppy has been featured in the ghastly trailer for Marvel Zombies, Marvel Studios Animation’s upcoming four-part miniseries releasing this September 24.
The kawaii metal, post-hardcore, and J-pop track serves as the third single from the Japanese band’s fifth studio album, METAL FORTH. It fits pretty well with the trailer for the latest Marvel Studios Animation offering, highlighting the slightly violent tone and bloody affair of the TV-MA-rated series.
The miniseries is based on the Marvel comic book metaseries of the same name, which features zombie versions of superheroes and supervillains from the Marvel Universe across various limited series.
Marvel Zombies is set in the alternate timeline that first appeared in the 2021 What If…? episode “What If… Zombies?!” It gives us a glimpse of a world where a virus turned most of the world’s population, including the Avengers, into flesh-eating zombies. The miniseries centers on a group of survivors who try to bring an end to the zombie plague to save the world.
The trailer asks us the question, “Who will save us… from our heroes?” Such surviving heroes who have joined the fight against the undead include Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, Ms. Marvel, and, surprisingly, a Blade variant of Moon Knight.
The trailer’s final moments see him slashing his way through a zombified Ghost. Notably, he is voiced by Todd Williams and not Mahershala Ali, who was cast in 2019 to play the character in live-action. However, he has yet to appear in his upcoming solo film, which has faced numerous delays.
