Addison Rae has officially joined the cast of Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the third season of Netflix’s hit anthology series, premiering globally on October 3.
The series centers on Ed Gein, the notorious Wisconsin murderer and grave robber of the 1950s. Gein was known for exhuming bodies and turning human remains into household objects. This later inspired iconic horror films such as Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs.
Charlie Hunnam leads the cast as Gein, with Laurie Metcalf as his domineering mother Augusta, Suzanna Son as his friend Adeline, Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock, Olivia Williams as Alma Reville, and Joey Pollari as Anthony Perkins, the actor who portrayed Norman Bates in Psycho.
Rae portrays Evelyn Hartley, a teenager who mysteriously disappeared on October 24, 1953, in La Crosse County, Wisconsin. In the trailer, set to Pet Shop Boys’ “It’s a Sin,” Evelyn appears terrified and strapped to a chair in distress. It remains unclear whether Evelyn will be portrayed as a central or secondary victim in the story, or how she connects to Gein’s overall narrative across the eight-episode season.
For Rae, the role marks a sharp turn into darker, more dramatic material compared with her previous screen work in lighter projects such as He’s All That and the animated feature Spy Cat.
