Renowned artists like A$AP Rocky and Pharell Williams are set to serve as the co-chairs to this year’s MET Gala, alongside sports legends LeBron James and Lewis Hamilton, multi-Oscar nominee Colman Domingo, and Vogue’s iconic editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The theme of this year’s gala is set to honor the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ –– which explores the cultural and historical elements of the Black dandy fashion style from its origins during the 18th century Enlightenment Europe.
With a dress code of ‘tailored for you’, this year’s gala is expected to take place on May 5, 2025, at the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York City. The exhibit is inspired by Monica L Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, as it aims to redefine the popular notion of a dandy as it celebrates Black menswear over the years.
