A24 has been on a roll with their choice of musicians lately. GRAMMY Award-winning indie/alternative musician St. Vincent (Annie Clark) will release a new song titled “DOA” for the upcoming A24 horror-comedy Death of a Unicorn, which premieres in the United States on March 28.
“DOA” is mostly a one-woman show: having been written, produced, and performed by Clark and mixed by GRAMMY-winning mix engineer Cian Riordan. According to a press release, the song features “sweetly sinister pulsations and infectious guitar.”
Death of a Unicorn follows a father-daughter duo, played by Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd, who are on their way to a weekend work retreat when they accidentally kill the world’s first known unicorn.
When they inform their fellow companions, including Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, Anthony Carrigan, and their billionaire boss, played by Richard E. Grant, the group schemes to exploit the creature, believing it possesses miraculous medical cures. However, as an act of vengeance, the unicorn’s parents begin to decimate the houseguests one by one.
The song follows Clark’s seventh studio album, All Born Screaming, which earned the GRAMMY Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Earlier this year, Clark thrilled her Filipino fans at the Manila stop of her ‘All Born Screaming‘ Tour, held at the Filinvest Tent in Muntinlupa City.
The film’s official score was composed by Dan Romer (Luca, Superman & Lois, The Good Doctor) & Giosuè Greco (Didi, Let the Right One In).
