has a way of connecting people across different stages of life. A song that defined one generation can find a new audience years later, while a collaboration can bring different musical backgrounds into the same space. Live performances give these connections a place to unfold, allowing familiar songs to take on new meaning in front of an audience. The experience is as much about being there to hear the music as it is about sharing it with the people around you.

At the Filipino Music Awards 2026, these connections came through in the artists who shared the stage and the music recognized across genres. Held on October 6 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, the second edition of the awards brought together established acts and contemporary artists, reflecting the range of talent shaping Filipino music today.

ZYN, a tobacco-free nicotine pouch brand for adults who already use nicotine products, was also part of the event. Together, FMA 2026 and ZYN offered a way to consider how uninterrupted moments, from experiencing live performances to bonding with others over music, become part of the experiences that bring people together.

When Different Generations Share the Stage

Collaborations offered some of the night’s clearest examples of how connects artists and audiences across generations. Kamikazee performed “Huling Sayaw” with Janine Berdin, bringing a familiar rock anthem to the stage with a new voice. Later, Parokya Ni Edgar took the stage with Elmo Magalona and Flow G for “Bagsakan,” revisiting the 2005 collaboration originally performed with Francis M and Gloc-9.

These performances gave familiar songs another life in front of audiences who may have encountered them at different points in their lives. They also showed how Filipino music carries its history forward through artists who perform, reinterpret, and introduce it to new listeners. For fans, hearing a song live alongside others who know every word can become part of the experience itself.

The Genre Awards reflected another part of that evolving scene, recognizing music across pop, alternative, hip-hop, rock, folk, and R&B. The range of categories placed different sounds within the same celebration, reflecting the many ways listeners find their place in OPM. From longtime favorites to newer releases, each song offered another reason for audiences to connect through music.

The Experience Beyond the Stage

Music often gives people a shared point of reference, even when their tastes or experiences differ. An awards night brings those encounters into one place, giving fans the chance to hear familiar songs, discover artists beyond their usual playlists, and take in performances as they happen.

That idea also offers a natural connection to ZYN’s “Life Uninterrupted” narrative. At FMA 2026, the brand had an on-site booth where attendees could engage with ZYN as part of the wider event experience. Its presence sat alongside a night centered on music, collaboration, and the shared experiences that bring audiences together. Adult nicotine users in FMA 2026 were given the opportunity to enjoy their favorite songs without any interruptions thanks to ZYN being completely smoke-free and ash-free.

The Filipino Music Awards offered a snapshot of in motion, with artists from different generations sharing a stage and familiar songs reaching listeners in new ways. These are the experiences that give live music its lasting appeal: the performances people talk about afterward, the songs they rediscover, and the connections that form around a common love for Filipino music.
