Margate-based alt-soul and art-pop duo Thandii releases “My Angel,” a sensual and soulful collaboration with the Philippines’ most recorded drummer, Jun Regalado, released via the UK’s Sama Sama Records.

The single follows the release of “Coco Okayo,” the lead single from Thandii’s album of the same name and entirely in collaboration with Regalado.

“My Angel” celebrates love and connection through a soulful composition defined by the kulintang, a traditional Philippine musical instrument whose resonant gong chimes lend emotional depth and authenticity to the track’s arrangement.

“The kulintang have a special power to bring people together,” the duo shares. “These ancient gongs pull us toward them like a magnet. ‘My Angel’ is about someone [who] magically arrived in your life, that you now can’t live without.”

The production blends an alt-soul sensibility with the distinct sounds of the Filipino instrument, reflecting both Regalado’s legacy and the duo’s genre-bending approach to their music.

“Getting down; dancing as self-soothing,” the duo shares about working with Regalado. “In a post-truth time when it’s hard to tell what’s real, it’s about coming to terms with this new reality; making peace with the now.”
