Lolita Carbon On Celebrating 50 Years With A Recognition Worth The Wait At Billboard Philippines Women In Music 2026
“I feel great and young again because the award was worth 50 years in my life of singing and sharing the stage with different musicians. It was worth the wait,” Carbon says.

Lolita Carbon has been honored as this year’s Icon at Billboard Philippines Women In Music 2026, held on March 24, 2026, at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater, BGC Arts Center.
In an interview with Billboard Philippines, the Pinoy folk rock icon opened up about her longevity and how this award perfectly encapsulates her 50-year career as a musician, saying, “I feel great and young again because the award was worth 50 years in my life of singing and sharing the stage with different musicians. It was worth the wait.”
Carbon then proceeded to go through her evolution as an artist, going through the eras in her life from crafting songs such as “Usok” and “Biyaheng Langit.” With now five decades under her belt, she is showing no signs of stopping.
“Like what Regine said, you dream big because ako din I started very young. Hindi ko na-imagine na I will be a musician on the road, but then it was siguro a choice. Then, I enjoyed it. Sobra akong nag-enjoy (I really enjoyed it ) and [with] different musicians on stage. That’s about it. And I’m still going on.”
The third Billboard Philippines Women in Music event continues to celebrate the influential, game-changing women in Filipino music who have shaped generations — from honoring the legacy of legends to paving the way for the future of the industry.
