Filipina hitmaker Mrld has just announced that she is now an independent artist.

The news was shared last Friday (March 6), wherein the 21-year-old musician posted a lengthy statement on her official social media platforms, getting candid with fans and followers about her experiences over the past few months. “The start of my 2026 has been a rough patch. I can’t garner in words how much of my head space has been taken up ever since the year started,” she shared – before opening up about finally forging her own path as a newly-minted independent artist.

“I am so happy and proud to say that I AM NOW AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST. The days of being under a label were purely mixed emotions”, she mentioned, then expressing her gratitude to her former team: “To the people I worked with in my previous label — to the staff, thank you for being the best people out there. And yes, I am no longer in any contact with O/C Records.” Mrld then concluded her statement by stating her excitement to move forward as an independent artist, teasing future releases and her commitment to delivering her best efforts for her fanbase, aptly named WRLD.

“The start of my 2026 has been a rough patch. i can’t garner in words how much of my head space has been taken up ever since the year started. there were a lot of conflicts with me and the people i worked with in the past that i still think about up to this day. The tears I cried and the frustration & sadness that I bursted out in the past few days were no joke.

but i am so happy and proud to say that I AM NOW AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST. ® the days of being under a label were purely mixed emotions. i don’t wanna write this message sounding ungrateful or holding grudges. I really am thankful to whoever trusted me and my capabilities as an artist. To the people I worked with in my previous label — to the staff, thank you for being the best people out there. And yes, I am no longer in any contact with OC Records.

I have never been this happy and grateful. I am finally releasing my own songs. I don’t know where to start and I really am scared of what may happen to the path l’ve taken but I know that my peace and happiness matters the most I can’t wait to get the HUNDRED PERCENT OF ALL MY HARDWORK * WRLD I LOVE YOU ARE AND WILL FOREVER BE FAMILY!”

However, upon the release of her post on social media, O/C Records shared a statement to MYX Global, stating that the announcement came as “a surprise to the label”, and that “both her recording deal and exclusive management contract are still in full effect.” “We’re a bit surprised that she posted something like this, when in fact we’ve been constantly reminding her about this,” the label noted.

Mrld then shared MYX Global’s article on her social media platforms, commenting “Pag ako nag salita talaga ha… (If I get to speak…)” The “Sandali” hitmaker then posted another statement on her Facebook page, explaining her side of the story in greater detail. “My parents never wanted me to have any bad blood or arguments with people and strangers growing up but they did teach me to fight for what’s right and especially my rights if ever things start to look unfair,” before adding: “I deserve more than 5% of the songs I wrote and produced. I didn’t go independent because I’m selfish and want revenge. I WENT INDEPENDENT BECAUSE MY FAMILY NEEDS TO EAT AND LIVE.”

She concluded her second post by stating, “I asked several times for a meeting but it’s always a no show. The expiration of my contract came and you come huddling as if I owe you something? Dapat lahat ng tao may karapatang umalis (Everyone should have a right to leave). I know what was written in my contract. I know my percentage share. Pinapalabas nyo pang sinungaling kaming mga artist (You’re making it look like us artists are liars).”

Mrld first signed with Kean Cipriano’s O/C Records back in 2021, wherein they re-released her debut single “An Art Gallery Could Never Be As Unique As You.” Her track, “Ligaya”, also garnered viral prominence on platforms like TikTok, while her 2024 hit single, “Sandali”, peaked at No. 18 on Billboard Philippines‘ Top Philippine Songs chart and at No. 29 on the Philippines Hot 100. She also released her debut album, 7th Sense, last March 7, 2025 via O/C Records.
