ALAMAT are officially reimagining a Rico Blanco classic.

On January 28, 2026 (Wednesday), Viva Records announced three songs from the soundtrack of the upcoming Viva One mystery-thriller series Hell University. Among the three songs revealed was a cover of Filipino rock icon Rico Blanco’s “Yugto,” reimagined by P-pop boy group ALAMAT. The other two songs revealed so far are ALAMAT’s “LuzViMinda” and Rob Deniel’s “Sinta,” with the soundtrack set to come out on January 30, 2026 (Friday).

Based on the popular Wattpad Philippines novel of the same name by author KnightInBlack, Hell University tells the story of a group of friends who unwittingly become students at the titular school, from where they try to survive and escape as they face the nightly occurrence of the “Bloody Night” — an event where all forms of violence and crime are permitted within the campus. The series is set to premiere on Viva One on February 6, 2026 (Friday). Notably, ALAMAT members Jao Canlas and Alas Alvarez also star in the series.

Rico Blanco’s “Yugto” was initially released on June 12, 2008 as the first single from Blanco’s debut solo album Your Universe. The full-length record came out on August 8, 2008 and also contains other hit songs such as “Your Universe” and “Antukin.”

For ALAMAT, their cover of “Yugto” is their first release of 2026. It follows their sophomore album DESTINO, which came out on November 21, 2025.
