Alan Chikin Chow, the most-watched YouTube Shorts creator known for creating the YouTube series Alan’s Universe, and HYBE America are teaming up to produce a new K-pop scripted series for Netflix.

Inspired by K-pop and K-Dramas, Alan’s Universe follows Chow and his friends as they navigate high school, bullies, and youthful blunders. The channel has amassed over 100 million subscribers on YouTube, with each video pulling in over millions of views.

The upcoming Netflix scripted series will center around a misfit crew of aspiring pop idol rejects enrolled in an arts academy, who join forces to form a co-ed band.

The artists joining Chow haven’t been announced as of this writing. However, original music will be released throughout the series release. Beyond the screen, plans are also revealed for the group to perform around the world with hopes of becoming the next pop group sensation.

Chow will serve as executive producer alongside James Shin, HYBE America’s President of Film and Television, and Jingu Jang, HYBE America AU President and former Vice President of BIGHIT Music.

In a press release, Chow shared his excitement towards the project, saying, “Our groundbreaking project brings together extraordinary creative talent across Netflix and HYBE America to launch a pioneering new franchise for the next generation.”

HYBE America, the subsidiary of the Korean entertainment juggernaut HYBE Co., Ltd, has been changing the game across films, television, technology, culture, and music. They currently represent the biggest names in the world of K-pop, such as BTS, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPEN, and LE SSERAFIM.

The upcoming series currently has no official title or release date, with more information to be announced as it enters production.
