At the 2025 Game Awards, Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures unveiled the movie reveal trailer for Street Fighter — the live-action reboot of Capcom’s iconic fighting game franchise of the same name.

Set to “Punk Tactics” by Pennsylvania-based hip-hop duo Joey Valence & Brae, the trailer gives audiences a first look at its star-studded ensemble, adrenaline-charged action, and teases intense combat sequences that promise pure popcorn movie fun. The song is featured on the duo’s 2023 debut album of the same name.

Street Fighter is directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) and written by Dalan Musson. It is set in 1993 and follows Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), two Street Fighters who are drawn back into battle when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the upcoming World Warrior Tournament. Beneath the facade of this fierce and deadly battle royale lies a conspiracy that forces them to confront their past demons and ultimately face each other.

In 2026, Street Fighter won’t be alone in the arena, facing competition of its own. Warner Bros. Pictures’ Mortal Kombat II, the sequel to the 2021 reboot, is also gearing up for its theatrical release in May 2026, making it an exciting year for fighting-game adaptations.

The 2026 reboot follows the 1994 film adaptation starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and the 2009 Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, both of which were poorly received.
