CHNDTR is now officially a solo project.
Formed in 2016, the band’s name is derived from and is pronounced the same way as vocalist and guitarist Chin Detera’s full name, with her serving as the sole remaining founding member.
The news of the band reforming into Detera’s solo work was announced on November 18, 2025 (Tuesday). “C H N D T R has always been home, after many chapters and versions. This shift is something we’ve talked about as a team and now I’m stepping into the space where I can grow honestly as a songwriter and artist,” stated Detera in her announcement. “Here’s to seeing how far we can still go! Will always be here writing songs for ya’ll.”
Prior to this, CHNDTR’s final lineup was composed of Detera, drummer Dani Pajarillo II, guitarist Gabriel Luis, and bassist Clyde Tibayan. Notably, Pajarillo II, Luis, and Tibayan will still be recording and performing with Detera as session musicians. Their final release as a band was the single “DAPITAN,” which came out on April 3, 2025.
Additionally, before the announcement of CHNDTR’s reformation, former guitarist Dritch Tabangcura officially stepped down from the band just last November 14, 2025 (Friday). Expressing their thanks, the band stated the reason to be “a personal choice” of Tabangcura’s that is “rooted in wanting to explore life outside music and focus on himself.”
With this, CHDTR also teased that more music is on the way, set to come out in the coming year. “Marami nang nakahanda (There’s already a lot in store), and we’re excited to share the journey ahead with all of you,” they stated. “Lagi lang magpapatuloy si Chin gumawa ng maraming kanta para sa banda at para sainyo na patuloy pa din na nakasupporta (Chin will always continue to create lots of songs for the band and for you who still keep on supporting).”
