“This is just the beginning,” Apple states. FINNEAS has partnered with the tech giant to compose a new mnemonic intro for every Apple Original film and series.

“Never thought I’d get to do something like this, but I am so honored and truly couldn’t have enjoyed working on it more,” the Grammy Award-winning musician says in the caption of an Instagram post. “Hope this very short piece of music feels like it matches the things I love about Apple so much.”

The intro marks the singer-songwriter and producer’s shortest composition ever. More than just a theme, the mnemonic might become his most listened-to work, as in the age of streaming, almost every household consumes streaming services like never before. “The things that I think of as real classic mnemonics are NBC — you can hear that in your head — or HBO has its static,” FINNEAS says in an interview with Variety.

He was approached by David Taylor, Apple’s Head of Music, with the idea of simplifying things moving forward. This comes after Apple TV was rebranded from Apple TV+ last month. With a new logo, Apple needed a new piece of music to go along with it — something short but effective —which, for FINNEAS, was a bit of a challenge.

The mnemonic actually has three versions: the main version clocks in at five seconds and plays before episodes of Apple-produced television shows; the one-second version is a sting used in movie trailers; and the longer, 12-second version plays in theaters before Apple Studios Original Films, like F1.
